Brazilian pianist Marvio Ciribelli shows the renewal of Bossa Nova, Choro and Samba-Jazz. From Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Ciribelli had studied the piano with bossa nova greats such as Luiz Eça (Tamba Trio) and Antonio Adolfo (Trio 3D). His album Vogue Samba Jazz counting on such artists as Marcio Bahia, Tom Bergeron, Arthur Maia, Marcelo Martins, Ricardo Silveira and Sérgio Chiavazzoli among others. Ciribelli produced ) an album of the dutch band Focus (Thijs van leer, Pierre van der Linden, Jan Dumée and Bobby Jacobs) named Beyond the Horizon where he is also playing among other Brazilian great stars.

Class, category and energy, define the interpretations of Marvio Ciribelli. There are creative arrangements, new compositions and Brazilian classics such as tunes of Vinicius de Moraes, Tom Jobim, Chico Buarque, Baden Powell, Jacob do Bandolim, Ernesto Nazareth, Zequinha de Abreu and Laércio de Freitas’. Furthermore, he still adds all his creativity and enthusiasm, obtaining a Brazilian Jazz that distinguishes itself by its quality and identity.

 

Marvio Ciribelli had performed in events, as The Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland); The Java Jazz Festival (Indonesia); the celebration of the 50 years of Bossa Nova in France (La Place Bellecour, Lyon, with 25,000 people in the audience); the festivals "Blue Planet in Concert” (Munich, Germany), “Montreux Meets Brienz" (Brienz, Switzerland), and national events, as the festivals Mauá Jazz (Rio de Janeiro), Ibitipoca Jazz (MG) and a Tribute to the Birthday of Tom Jobim (in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro).

 

With a classical background, Marvio Ciribelli shows control of his instrument and a vast pallet of ways of expressing himself, building his own language. He has several albums recorded, three of them recorded live at Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

 

His lastest release is 'Vogue Samba-Jazz with a lot of the best musicians in Brasil plus foreigners Tom Bergeron and Raquel Cepeda. The CD 'Nazareth na Confraria' counts with American singer Freddy Cole as a special guest interpreting the Bossa Nova 'Stay', collaboration of Marvio with brazilian composer Marcos Valle (who also plays in the track). With english singer John Lawton (Uriah Heep) and dutch guitarrist Jan Dumée, Ciribelli recorded the album OTR 'Mamonama' released in Europe under the label Lion Music. With members of Dutch Rock band ‘Focus’ (Thijs van Leer, Pierre van der Linden, Jan Dumée and Bobby Jacobs), Ciribelli has recorded the new Album ‘Beyond The Horizon’ (Focus 8,5 in the British Edition)

 

Marvio Ciribelli had formerly performed with artists as Thaís Motta (producing her album "Minha Estação” and her career for 9 years), Bibi Ferreira, Vanessa Rangel, Nilze Carvalho, Sonia Santos and the instrumentalists Chico Batera (Chico Buarque's percussionist); Sidinho Moreira (Paul Simon's percussionist); Arthur Maia (Gilberto Gil's bass player); Marcio Bahia (Hermeto Pascoal's drummer); Marcelo Martins (Djavan and Ivan Lins' sax player); Marcelo Salazar (percussionist) and Alex Malheiros and Mamão (Group Azymuth's bassist and drummer).

 

A piano teacher of Brazilian music and improvisation, Marvio Ciribelli held workshops for professionals and students from all the world. One of them took place in Los Angeles, USA, invited by The International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE). The musician Jamey Aebersold, one of the most important authors of books and CDs about jazz and improvisation, attended his workshop.

 

In addition, Marvio was responsible for the composition of the soundtrack for the film "A Terceira Morte de Joaquim Bolivar", directed by Flavio Candido.

 

With so much love of the music, Marvio Ciribelli seeks to continually develop, create, and share their musical artistry with the world. Having started playing at a young age (11 yo), Marvio Ciribelli has acquired years of experience on stage or inside of the recording studio. Today, Pianista Marvio Ciribelli, is available for work in the studio, on commercial projects, or for private events. Marvio Ciribelli is now, also working with a new and talented Samba Jazz' singer from Venezuela, Raquel Cepeda who lives in Houston (USA). His partners in Brazil are the singers Sheila Sá and his sister, Mylena Ciribelli who is a TV sports presenter in Brazil.

No início dos anos 60, não haviam “rótulos” e sim, gêneros musicais. Assim que a Bossa Nova se consagrou no exterior, passou a ser considerada um gênero musical "internacional" . Na verdade, uma elite brasileira que optava por boa música, já falava em Bossa Jazz, Balanço ou Samba Jazz. E quando o saxofonista americano, Stan Getz, lançou o álbum "Jazz Samba”, o Brasil “achou” o rótulo "Samba Jazz”, que pode ser… uma maneira "meio Bossa de tocar Jazz…” E é isso que faz Marvio Ciribelli… e sempre com um toque de bom humor nos seus "Sambas Novos”… boa música para felizes ouvintes.
